Innocence

_DSF0584

For one reason or another we took small child to the War Museum at Salford Quays at the weekend. I can’t make up my mind if I am happy of it’s existence. It contains some horrific things, and is a homage to any number of murderous weapons, and instruments of death. It can be a moving and very upsetting place. At the same time, it is a reminder of all these things, and how we should be careful not to let some of these things happen again.

A midst all of this, with all the innocence she could muster, small child asked if the vents(?) on either side of the tanks gun were it’s eyes? She simply wasn’t frightened of it, because she had no idea it’s one purpose was to destroy. And when she asked what it was for, I left it that way.

“It’s a sort of car” I told her. And she was happy with that. Just as I am happy for her to remain innocent of such things for as long as possible.

Have a splendid week.
